Description The 600-yard par 5 15th is classic Jones. Although very long, players can see everything in front of them including the flagstick off in the distance. Jones claimed that this type of hole lent majesty to the course. A long, straight drive must avoid all of the bunkers down each side of the fairway. Built in 1966, this hole was considered a monster. Even today, if the ground is moist, it is not uncommon to see long hitters approaching the green on their third with something other than an iron. The bunkers leading to the green are deceptive, in much the same way Mackenzie used his bunkers to deceive and distract the players to come up short.
